Comatlas was formed in 1994, a Joint-Venture between a French company (SOREP) and the US ASIC company VLSI Technology Inc. Comatlas was formed to develop and manufacture components and equipment for digital data transmission where the main applications are digital TV (DVB-S/-C/-T/-RC/-SI) and telecommunication (xDSL).
Comatlas was acquired by Philips in 1999.
