Raychem Circuit Protection is the leader in resettable circuit protection solutions. In 1980 Raychem pioneered the development of PPTC (Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient) resettable device technology. Raychem first introduced its miniSMD surface-mount resettable devices in 1995, and currently offers more than ten product families to the market.
Continuing this market-leading innovation, in May 1999, the microSMD product line was launched reducing the size of these surface-mount products by almost half - to a 1210 mil footprint. To date, billions of PolySwitch products have been shipped and are used to protect a range of electrical and electronic products. Raychem also introduced SiBar thyristor surge protectors that provide transient voltage protection for telecommunication equipment.
In May, 1999, Raychem was acquired by Tyco Electronics.
In March, 2011, Tyco Electronics Ltd. changed its name to TE Connectivity Ltd.
The types of products manufactured by Raychem - TE Connectivity include Circuit Protection Resettable Devices, Circuit Protection Varistors/Thyristors.
