Tensilica - Cadence  Company Overview

Tensilica was founded in 1997 by Chris Rowen (one of the founders of MIPS Technologies) and was initially staffed by former employees of several other Silicon Valley processor and electronic design automation companies. The Tensilica brand is best known for its customizable microprocessor core, the Xtensa configurable processor. 

In 2013, Cadence Design Systems acquired Tensilica.

Cadence Design Systems, Inc is an American electronic design automation (EDA) software and engineering services company. The company produces software and hardware for designing integrated circuits, systems on chip (or, SoCs) and printed circuit boards.
