Zapex Research was a semiconductor company specializing in highly integrated digital multimedia chips for the consumer, mobile and cellular markets. 

Zapex Research was acquired by Emblaze Semiconductor in 2001. Subsequently, Emblaze Semiconductor was acquired by Zoran Corporation in June, 2004.

Zoran Corporation is a leading provider of digital solutions in the growing digital entertainment and digital imaging markets. In 1983, Zoran was established to develop and deliver DSP (digital signal processing) technologies. Today, Zoran's leading technologies combined with strong expertise in IC design, algorithm development and system integration allow Zoran to deliver complete solutions for OEMs producing innovative consumer electronics products.

Zoran Corporation merged with CSR plc. in August 2011 to create a global leader in wireless connectivity, location-aware, imaging, video, and audio products.

CSR plc was formed in 1999 and floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2004. It is headquartered in Cambridge, UK, and has more than 3,000 employees working in over 35 offices worldwide.
