USAR Systems was acquired by Semtech Corporation in December, 1999.

Founded in 1987, USAR Systems is a leading producer of input device and power management electronics for notebook, handheld and vertical systems and information appliances. Input device products include pre-programmed ICs for keyboards, mice and touch screens, as well as complete embedded mouse modules for OEM integration. System management products include ACPI-compliant embedded controllers with integrated keyboard encoders and other HID functionality as well as Smart Battery-related products. Geared chiefly for the portable and hand-held market, USAR holds patents on several low-power implementation methods, providing ICs with the lowest power consumption available on the market.
